I led worship at 2 different events the last couple of Sunday nights. And they couldn’t have been more contrasting places and groups of people!
The first was in the heart of Belfast, at a thriving church renowned for the worship leaders, musicians and songwriters they produce. Loadsa people, free worship, few restrictions. A lovely place to lead worship and a great night.
The second was out in the back end of nowhere at a small hall on a country road attended by a small group of people from a variety of very traditional church backgrounds. We didn’t have as much time to lead worship, definitely a smaller sound system and we didn’t have a full band there – just a couple of musicians this time.
And you know what? That too was a lovely place to lead worship – a great night!
What struck me as I reflected on these 2 contrasting places and people groups is that God’s Kingdom is advancing in all places of this land and through people of different theologies and evangelistic approaches. Both sets of people were amazing…and God’s Spirit was moving in them and through them both. I loved leading worship in both places!
Jesus has a wonderful teaching on unity: “…for whoever is not against us is for us. I tell you the truth, anyone who gives you a cup of water in my name because you belong to Christ will certainly not lose his reward.” Mark 9:40-41
Both these people, from differing ends of the spectrum, are very much for Jesus! It’s beautiful to see and a privilege to be a part of…
